EDU 3051 Class 11/1

Today we went on a field trip to the Knoxville Adaptive Education Center. The Principal is an amazing woman, and I am so glad to have met her. The information she gave us was both informative and useful. The strategies they use with students are great. She is wonderful at what she does, and so are all the other people that work with her. It takes a special person to work with children with disabilities. I did not really know what to expect going into the classrooms. Once I got in, the children just seemed like any other children. They were doing their work and joking around with the teacher. Some were tired because it was the end of the day, and they just wanted to go home. However, these students do have special needs and that cannot be forgot. It is great how the teachers and staff at KAEC understand the needs of all the students. They take these needs and provide the best education possible for each individual student. Being at the KAEC really opened my eyes more about students with disabilities.
